With the 2025-26 school year coming to an end, the excitement of summer fills the halls. Now that sports seasons have concluded and AP testing is over, many students are ready for a break. With this excitement, students and teachers are reminiscing on what a year it has been. There have been a number of successful sports seasons, TL construction coming to a head, and many cuts and additions to the teaching staff. This has been a year to remember.
TL had a particularly successful athletic year, with both Boys Freshmen Basketball and Boys Swim winning MCALs (Marin County Athletic League), Girls Varsity Soccer winning the NCS (North Coast Section) Division 4 championship, and Boys Lacrosse placing 2nd in NCS Division 2. More so, TL track’s school record from 1977 for relays was shattered. This year has been significant and enjoyable for players alike. Specifically, Varsity Water Polo player Ella Garroway Meyers ‘28 most enjoyed “connecting with her team” and “having fun competition with rival schools.” Similarly, cheerleader Natalia Hughes-Duque ‘29 shared that her favorite athletics memory this year was the Bell Game—Terra Linda’s football game against San Rafael High School—saying, “It was my last football game of the cheer season and there were a lot of people there supporting me and my cheer team.”
For freshmen, sports seasons can provide a sense of community and support, helping them adjust to being at a new school. Being on a team gives athletes the ability to develop mental endurance, build companionship, and branch out socially. For example, Meyers also highlighted how her team “created a supportive community that was encouraging and memorable”.
Events run by ASB (Associated Student Body) also formed many of the significant memories from this school year. Homecoming, Black Light, and the 2016 House Party dance were especially memorable, as were the spirit weeks and the March Madness tournament. These dances and events created memories which will last a lifetime. Students Lily Shaw (28) and Natalia Hughes-Duque (29) both shared that the memory of this school year that they cherished the most was the Homecoming Dance. They shared the enjoyment of shopping for a dress, getting ready with friends, and taking photos with their group. TL students also looked forward to the many ASB-run rallies throughout the year, noting the excitement of cheering on their classmates in challenges, wearing class colors, and showing school pride. “The rallies have been one of the most fun things about high school,” said Mei Hamelin ‘28. “I think they really unite each class.”
In the past few years, Ceramics has become a popular art elective that was the highlight of the year for several students who enjoy having a non-academic class where they can develop their artistic skills. “One of my favorite memories was hanging out with my friends in ceramics and making fun projects,” Hamelin said. The class has a welcoming and supportive environment where numerous students can explore creativity while building friendships. Ceramics teacher Ms. Allie shared that one of her favorite moments of this year was “seeing my students make a pinch pot for the first time, and seeing the smiles on their faces.” She also described a recent moment when “one of my advanced students saw her glazed bow and pulled it out of the glaze fire and screamed because she was so excited about it.” Beyond creating artwork, the ceramics class also creates meaningful connections between students and teachers. Allie reflected on how she promoted these connections, saying, “during Valentine’s Day, every year, I love to tell my students that I love them and give them a little piece of chocolate. I look forward to that every year.” These moments exemplify how Ceramics has become more than just an art class—for many students, the Ceramics elective is a safe place for students to be themselves and connect with others.
Overall, this past year has been meaningful for students of all grades and it is all the little memories that come together to make these four years unforgettable.
