New Teachers at TL: Ray McClintock
October 10, 2016
In room 412 Ray McClintock teaches U.S. History and World Geography. He began teaching after deciding to go back to school. His decision to go back to school came after working for Pepsi building store displays. Terra Linda was the first school McClintock applied to, the first he got an interview with, and the first to offer him a job. He likes the Marin area and thinks it’s a cool place to work. Despite not being a good student when he was younger, McClintock has always wanted to be a teacher. He attributes this to his appreciation of education.
He got his Bachelors in sociology from Sonoma State University. He believes his degree helps him give his students a bigger picture of the world. McClintock described his teaching style as student-centered where the students learn not just from him, but also each other. His classes are discussion and activity based.
In what little free time he has, McClintock enjoys being out in nature. He camps in Putnam Park in Petaluma and also enjoys hiking. He’s also a big football fan; he played and coached at Casa Grande and currently coaches the team here.
McClintock hopes to help students better understand history and that they will be able to think critically instead of just reciting information. He thinks Terra Linda has an awesome administration staff, teachers that are good to work with, and easy to teach students.
