On Friday, September 9th, the Terra Linda Trojans Women’s Varsity Volleyball Team hosted the Justin-Siena Braves. The Trojans swept the Braves in three straight sets. A key factor in the victory was second year varsity player, Sophomore Sophie Tight. Tight, number eight, had a “ Really good week” according to coach Tim Hawkins. Hawkins stated that the confidence and experience that Tight has gained because of her time on varsity last year has really benefited her, and the team as a whole this year. Hawkins stated, “She started the game off a little slow, but as the game progressed, so did her play.” Sophie truly led the Trojans to victory on Friday night. She was making plays that her teammates, coaches, and fans marveled at. Even in the opinion of some JV players, Brianne Shreeve, Noelle Habashi, and Audrey Tuck, Sophie was the clear choice for female athlete of week due to her performance against Justin-Siena on Friday and Tam on the previous Wednesday, where she also played a key role in the victory. Although Sophie says she gets nervous being on varsity as a sophomore, it’s a great experience. Tight works on perfecting her setting skills on a daily basis by hitting a volleyball into her basketball hoop. Tight has high hopes for the season “I think team wise we want to be third in MCAL” TIght Hopefully the team will not only achieve this goal but compete for the MCAl championship. Congratulations to Tight for being the Trojans Female Athlete of Week.
