Candace Owens is a well-known and controversial political commentator, author, media personality, activist, and entrepreneur. She co-founded a marketing agency called Degree180 in 2015, and during that time spoke out against the Trump Administration and the Republican party as a whole. In 2017, she made a public announcement, “I became a conservative overnight… I realized that liberals were actually the racists. Liberals were actually the trolls”
Following her sudden change of opinion, she began her vocal support of President Donald Trump’s campaign, and was hired by Turning Point USA (TPUSA), where she then met Charlie Kirk. Their working relationship began when Kirk hired her on the spot at TPUSA. Their professional and personal bond was seen by viewers as they organized rallies and events together. Their near-decade long relationship ended September 10th when Kirk was fatally shot at a TPUSA event at Utah Valley University, hosting a debate. Since, Owens has been publicly spiraling and trying to make sense of Kirk’s death.
Candace Owens has been accused by many of spreading misinformation and conspiracy throughout her career. Since the death of Kirk, however, she has been sharing unconfirmed information left and right. For one, Owens claims to have had a “vivid dream” where Kirk revealed he had been betrayed. She has taken it as fact, and has used this to support her overall conspiracy. Additionally, Owens claims that Kirk “predicted his own death.” This claim is somewhat validated by released texts, as Kirk supposedly told several people, “I think they’re going to kill me.” She has also been speaking of pressure from pro-Israel donors and other elites, put on Kirk. Donors are said to have threatened to pull funding from Kirk’s organization, and Bill Ackman, an American hedge fund manager, is accused of pressuring Kirk to stay pro-Isreal. She has also claimed that TPUSA, Kirk’s own organization, has betrayed him. She claims there is a “federal conspiracy”, and they have been complicit in concealing information. One other group she has said to be involved in the assasination is the Trump Administration. She has claimed Kirk’s killer, Tyler Robinson, was either set up or ignored by the government.
Moving forward, Owens has plans to continue her personal investigation. Owens has repeatedly said she will persistently investigate Kirk’s death and “federal conspiracy” surrounding it. Black Enterprise, the Multimedia company, claims she “has aggressively pursued information about the circumstances surrounding it, making it clear she will not stop anytime soon.” As of 2025, Owens has shared she’s “embarrassed” of herself for endorsing Trump and his campaign, referring to him as a “chronic disappointment.” She has progressed by picking apart other decisions made by his administration, and has shared their betrayal of Kirk. In recent months, Owens has been sued by the French President and First Lady Melania Trumpfor defamation. The ongoing legal prosecution is on the grounds of false claims Owen has repeatedly made of the First Lady.
Owens has also shared her fear for her own life, which she claims is linked to Kirk’s. She revealed she created a “Life-Insurance Package” containing sensitive information, which eight trusted individuals will spread in the case of her death. While facing an ongoing lawsuit from the French President Emmanuel Macron and the First Lady, constant public slander, and grieving the death of her friend, Owens has managed to spread her beliefs on this death, and is trying her hardest to fight for her truth.
