For the past year, junior Jake Rehfeldt has been a crucial member of Terra Linda’s varsity football team. He’s been playing football for the last three years, with this being his first year on the varsity team. Football is a huge part of Rehfeldt’s life. He shared, “I practice with my personal coach to stay disciplined.”  Rehfeldt always supports everyone on his team, whether that means being a role model to the JV players or lending a helping hand for his teammates. He commented, “I like to motivate the rest of my team and always be a team player about things. I like to lead by example.” He gives every game his all, always putting in his best efforts to lead his team to success. 

Demaree Byrd, a senior at Terra Linda and a running back on the team, had only positive things to say about his teammate. As a returning varsity athlete, Byrd has noticed the positive aspects Rehfeldt has brought to the team since he made varsity. Byrd explains, “Jake is basically our entire offense. He’s running back, and gets basically all the yards for us.” Byrd discussed some long runs Rehfeldt has made over the season, which have really helped out the team. Outside of Rehfeldt’s offensive performance, Byrd also shares “Jake always brings the energy to the team. He gets all of us hyped, and is overall just a great person.” Rehfeldt’s presence has personally impacted Byrd as well as his other teammates, as he takes time to build strong relationships with all the members of the team. Without Rehfeldt’s offense and enthusiastic personality, the team would not be where it is today. 

Sophomore Bo Jordan, Terra Linda’s quarterback, also shared many many optimistic things about his teammate, specifically about his passion and wide variety of skills. Jordan shared, “He can get the ball and make something happen on any given play.” He also explained, “He works really hard not only during the season, but also during off season. He works with multiple different trainers, and is always at practice.” This demonstrates Rehfeldt’s commitment to the sport. He is always there for everyone on the team, and puts his all in everyday. Through thick and thin, he’s continued to lead the Terra Linda varsity football team. 

Rehfeldt truly shows his passion for football every day, working his way up from playing on junior varsity his first two years of high school to excelling as a varsity athlete this year. He’s rushed an impressive 1,000 yards, and gotten 8 touchdowns over the course of the season. With his strong work ethic and spirited personality, Rehfeldt is bound for great things in the future.
