Halle and Silvia’s Guide to Good Eats

Have you ever wanted to go out to eat, but didn’t know where to go? Well, we have a list of local restaurants that you need to go to at least once in your life. We went to a variety of hot spots that range from breakfast to dinner places. Some of these spots you may have heard of, while some may be unfamiliar. It is worth it to pay a little more for better and healthier food, personal service, and to support the local economy.
Breakfast, the so-called most important meal of the day: You need a good meal to start off the day–so what better way to start off than with a prime breakfast sandwich from Rustic Bakery? Located in the Marin Country Mart at Larkspur Landing, home of all the white Marin pilates moms, you can’t miss the cute little aesthetically pleasing bakery. Not only do they have a list of very good coffee and tea, but also they have numerous pastries as well as many breakfast foods. One thing we highly recommend is the breakfast panini, made with perfectly cooked eggs mixed with melted cheese, crispy bacon and a wonderful bite of a toasty, scrumptious bread as the outer layer. However, if you want a heavier meal with a wider variety of breakfast and lunch dishes, go to Theresa and Johnny’s on Fourth Street in Central San Rafael. This local joint has great, interactive service with a fun interior design. By far the best meal to order is the French Toast, with a side bacon or sausage — depends on your preference. This isn’t any ordinary French Toast, it is deep fried to the point of crispy perfection. Honestly, anything else you order will be a hit: burgers, club sandwiches, omelettes, pancakes, breakfast burritos, and plenty of other choices.
It’s the middle of the day and you need something nutritious and tasty to pep up your day. Well, go to Smith Ranch Cafe and Deli to get a perfect lunch item. Their menu ranges from hot sandwiches to salads to pastas and to even burritos. Their specialties are hot sandwiches; we recommend the chicken pesto sandwich. The warm sourdough bread is a perfect combination with the mouth watering pesto, cheese, and chicken inside the bread. The location is ideal as it is next to the Smith Ranch Road movie theater. Before you see a movie, grab a bite to eat at this local deli. You could definitely make a lunch trip from TL to the deli and back to TL again, just in time for your next class.
Now maybe you’re on your own for dinner one night or you just feel like going out to eat with some friends. It’s the end of the day and you’re feeling really hungry: go to Panchitos Mexican Restaurant. Conveniently located, this restaurant is very close to TL, in the same parking lot as Scotty’s and Three Twins. The burritos are huge and diverse as you can create your own burrito with variety of different meats and other toppings. But of course, anything on the menu will be a guaranteed hit: tacos, fajitas, enchiladas, nachos, quesadillas, and more traditional Mexican meals.
