Dear Abby #4

Dear Abby,

My friend is bullying me and I’m not sure what to do. Please help me.

Dear Patricia*,

If someone is treating you unkindly, they aren’t a real friend. If they call you names or mistreat you in any way, you should talk to them and see what is going on. If they continue to treat you this way, then that’s a relationship you don’t need in your life and you should find different people to hang out with. The best people to be around are people that build you up and push you forward not the ones that keep you down. If it gets to a point where you can’t handle it on your own, then you should contact our school counselors or trusted adults.

Here are the counselors’ emails: sgatlin@srcs.org, mmoore@srcs.org, ethompson@srcs.org

Dear Abby,

If I think that someone is insulting me, but I don’t understand what they are saying, what should I do?

Dear Susan*,

If you are ever in a situation where you feel that you are being insulted or in any way put down, a good thing to do is to ask them why they feel the need to insult you, often times it’s better to find other people to hang out with. Some feel the need to put others down to build themselves up. Don’t think that they have the right to put you or others down.
