I got home yesterday and my father started yelling at me. He was drunk and he really scared me. What should I do? Please help me, I don’t know who to talk to.

You are not alone. There are many people going through the same exact thing but aren’t ready to speak up. You can always call a domestic abuse hotline 1-800-799-SAFE (7233) if you want anonymity. If there are any friends, teachers, or adults you trust to talk about this to, always go to them and try to find someone who can offer a safe place to go when this happens. You can also try out a support group (Psychology Today) and/or talk to the school counselors. (ethompsom@srcs.org, mmoore@srcs.org, sgatlin@srcs.org) They will be able to help in more ways than you think. If it progresses beyond yelling, call the abuse hotline listed above for immediate help.
